The Now Factor.

I think many of us have been working tirelessly for the promise of tomorrow, because that is what is expected of us.  It is what surely have taught us from home and in school, and although it is a very mature and adult position to see things, but sometimes it simply is not the best for us, I’ll tell you why.

Long ago I read a book that changed my conception of things, this book came to my life at a time when I was 100% focused on working hard to have what anyone want, a bigger house, a better car, a better computer, better clothes, better gadgets, better accessories, in short, almost everything was related to the verb “have”, Of course I also had the desire to do something deeper and more meaningful, but that was later on my list of priorities; not because it was the least important thing to mebut becouse  in my conception of things in order to help I had to “have”first.

It’s been a long time since I read it, now I’ve been listening the book not to lose any detail; and I’m writing this post because it’s common that when something new falls into your hands, the emotion factor makes you think that everything is true and you do not question anything, from my experience and as objectively as possible, I can recommend The Power of Now mp3 by Eckhart Tolle.

power-of-nowThe scoop, get ready, it sounds incredible. The premise is that nothing exists except the present. The past and the future are an illusion. About what I was saying to you at the beginning, I think that is great doing things to have a better future, but that these things have to make us feel good about ourselves in the present tense. What good is it to spare time of recreation killing me working for the future, if that does not make me happy now, why sacrifice simply for the sake of sacrifice.

Another issue that should be emphasized is that when you focus on the now, you rescue your passion for work, stop doing it for material things in the future and you start to do so that in the beginning led you to dedicate yourself to such or that deal.

You will discover how little by little you begin to become more attentive to what happens around you in the work and how you can take advantage of it; you will also discover how you begin to be more productive.

I realized that it is possible to achieve both, a present of which you are proud and that leads you to a good future, is a matter of balance. The Power of Now is also about attention, awareness: It is important not to let this magnificent gift of the present escape us. Believe me that if you are not enjoying your present, it is very likely that you will not enjoy the future either, you will always be leaving happiness for later, in other words, you will always be leaving yourself for later.

The Best Online Businesses To Enter Right Now

online businessIf you’re just starting out trying to make money online, the sheer number of possibilities can feel overwhelming.

While you may not have realized it at first, as soon as you start researching ways to build a home business you’ll find that there are more options than you probably ever imagined!

Unfortunately, this also means that there are a ton of companies eager to take your money as an “investment” in your future while you learn the ropes.
In this post I’ll take a look at what I think are some of the best opportunities available online, which you can start for relatively low investments, and not worry about falling for scams before you know what you’re doing.

Leverage Your Experience: Go Solo

The first option is to take the experience that you already have an work to build your own business providing your skills as a contracted service.

For many people looking to break away from the traditional 9 to 5 (or 7 to 7, as the case may be…), this is by far the best option.

Whatever your current role, you have valuable experience that you could sell as a contracted to service either to your current company or a host of other firms in your industry.

Whether you’re a paralegal, an accountant, a website designer, or just about anything else, there is a way to capitalize on this experience, and getting started can be as simple as making a few phone calls.

Niche Marketing

The next best area to turn is to create your own online marketing business. No, I don’t mean open up an agency to sell online marketing.

I mean leverage your expertise (again with your own experience, maybe I’m sensing a best practice/trend here…) into creating your own website or blog, and sell other company’s services through it.

The benefit of this is that you don’t have to handle any of the billing or product development, and have basically no overhead costs. A new website only costs a few dollars a year to start and maintain, and you can leverage your own knowledge to provide valuable information to those looking for it.

It’s an incredibly profitable industry to be in, as long as you know what you’re doing. That said, beginners beware, since there are a lot of bad sites out there eager to prey on the naive and uninformed. See this scam review for more info.

Create a Product

Finally, you always have the ability to create your own product or service. The advantage of this strategy is that if you invest the time in building your own product upfront, you’ll be able to re-sell it many times later, and earn back your time in the form of residual earnings.

Unfortunately, this strategy can take time and some capital to get started, so if you’re on a tight budget and need money tomorrow (metaphorically speaking), it’s not necessarily the best route to go.

There’s a great article on Sitepoint that explains the ins and outs of this process in more detail.

Whichever route you take, the key takeaway here is that there are a million and one ways to find success with an online business. You just have to combine your experience with any of the burgeoning niches and get to work to find success!

MIT Introduction to Programming

Don’t let the fact that this class is from 2008 fool you.

This Introduction Programming Course (“600” in MIT lingo) is one of the best courses ever taught for new programmers, and one of the first comprehensive introductions to computer science released freely under the MIT OpenCourseWare project.

Despite the fact that it is now several years old, all of the concepts taught in the course are still applicable to those interested in pursuing a career or a hobby in computer science. Since the course revolves around the principles and systems that make computers work, using Python, a well established language used by major companies, including Google, it isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Today’s students might find a few nuances of the Python language have changed, but for the content of this course, that is not a consideration that should deter you from watching the video and following along for yourself!

Mark Cuban’s Idiot’s Guide to Starting a Business

For many entrepreneurs, funding sources to start their business are tough. Some turn to personal finances, some raise private capital from friends, family, or professional investors, and some decided to take advantage of SBA programs to get a secured loan.

While it may sound like a good idea for a cash strapped company, the reality is that taking on too much debt too early can destroy a business’ longer term growth prospects.

As Mark Cuban clearly puts it in this video, he is NOT a fan of taking on debt in order to start a business. Learn why in this great mini-lesson from one of the most successful entrepreneurs and business owners on the planet!
