FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used to exchange files between two computers connected to the Internet or any other network that supports the TCP/IP procol.
Once connected to the FTP server (anonymously if anonymous connections are allowed by the server, or using an user name and a password), an FTP client software can perform all the common file managing operations on the server file system: uploading and downloading files, creating, deleting, renaming files or directories, changing files or directories permissions.
As many FTP client software offer an user friendly graphic interface, accessing and managing files on the remote server is often not much more complicated than manipulating files on your local hard drive.
Below you will find a list of open source FTP client software applications. If you use some of these programs, spend a minute to leave a comment or post a short review. You will help other users who may be in search of a good open source FTP client.
