Image editors are applications intended to create, edit and manipulate images in a variety of graphics file formats (BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG and more). Usually you have available a set of brushes to simply draw an image on the screen with the use of your mouse or you can utilize apposite functions to draw boxes, circles, ellipses and other shapes.

In addition image editors offer a wide range of graphic effects and filters that can be used to change the appearance of the image you've created.
